The Winnipeg MS chapter has some very interesting information online concerning the Space Activity Suit. I remember seeing some film of this many years ago, but could never find any information on it, even on Encyclopedia Astronautica -- well, here it is. Not only do they have the original circa-1970 documents online, but also more-recent items on the research of Prof. Dava J. Newman. This is a brilliant concept, and something along these lines is what will be needed on Mars -- settlement just won't be practical if we are forced to rely on Apollo-style pressurized suits, or even the advanced, Mark-III-type hard-shell suits.
