To put the Mars radiation dose in perspective, check the Natural Radioactivity page at the University of Michigan radiation information website. If I am reading this correctly, the typical annual cosmic ray dose on Earth is 27mrem, or 0.027rem. Which is to say, considerably less than either Mars or ISS.
