Phoenix Lands on Mars

After a long, strange trip, Phoenix has landed near the Martian north pole.

The image from orbit of the lander descending under parachutes is pretty darned cool.

Is it true that the Orion's 'mickey mouse' shaped SEP panels are based upon the design of those used by the MPL?

I wonder what surprises are in store for us when Phoenix analyses the subsoil of the red planet's polar region. On another note, I'm glad that my name is one of thousands of names on the DVD that's affixed to the Mars lander. We're a part of history!

What was the mysterious object in the distance that was photographed after the landing? Just courious.

"What was the mysterious object in the distance that was photographed after the landing? Just courious."

Just someone accidentally walking onto the soundstage. Don't worry -- the door's been nailed shut now, so it shouldn't happen again.

(Seriously, I don't know, but it looked like a camera artifact to me.)
